Purge Or Persist is a 4 VS 1 asymmetrical luminal horror video game,

Will you play as the alien overlord? Or the frantic survivors taking on the hordes of enemies?

Story

Set in southern USA in the 1990’s inspired by both video game and film/TV classics, to explore an alternate reality. The aim of this game is to explore how Level Design strategies can be used to maximise player engagement with the story world while conserving continuity in high-pace gameplay. 

The story begins hundreds of light years away, years before an alien species discovers earth. A simple Hive race uncovers a new mysterious species of fungi and releases a lethal mutating virus that further spreads the fungi, creating a vicious cycle.

During the first year of this epidemic not a single cure could be found by this eon old race, they tried everything from experiments to sudden technological advancements that took them from earths Middle Ages to FTL travel (faster than light). As a desperate race against time the Hive sent Research ships across the galaxy hoping to find a cure before it kills all other life on their planet.

In the 1990’s a Hive ship discovers Earth; while observing the planet they found a small, quiet town in southern USA to research. Due to the Cold War America monitored the Hives activates but could not actively confront them. After a year of research, the Hive discovers that humans are immune to the virus and section off the town with an energy field cutting its contact off from the rest of the world, alerting America to its severity, as the cold war’s tension begins to lift.

Gameplay begins after a small stealth unit fails to intercept an escort transferring test subjects from the town to an unknown location, leading to both the aliens and stealth unit dying leaving 4 test subjects to escape into another nearby town and find a way to call for help while fighting the hordes of Aliens being sent by the Hive to retrieve them.
